Lost Lot are an alt-country band from the North East of England, known for their heartfelt songwriting, rich textures, and five-part harmonies that cut straight to the soul. Blending the emotional weight of Americana with the depth of rock and indie influences, they create music that feels both grounded and expansive – songs that stay with you long after the final chord.
Formed originally as Matt Dunbar & The Autonomous Collective, the band evolved into Lost Lot as they embraced a more collaborative creative process. Their name comes from Josh Ritter’s novel The Great Glorious Goddamn of It All, a fictional place symbolic of exploration, loss, and meaning, echoing the band’s lyrical focus on love, identity, mental health, and the places we carry with us.
The band draw influences from across the musical spectrum, including Brandi Carlile, Wilco, Fleetwood Mac, Jason Isbell, REM, Deacon Blue, Kathleen Edwards, Bruce Springsteen and beyond. Their sound is shaped by a mix of Americana storytelling, emotive dynamics and classic songwriting craft.
Lost Lot’s music is difficult to pin down but that’s part of the appeal. It’s alt-country with a widescreen feel. It’s indie rock with a deep sense of heart. It’s road-trip music for broken hearts, hopeful minds, and everything in between.
Their self-titled debut EP Lost Lot was released in October 2023, featuring acclaimed singles like We Built A House, Coffee and Ghost along with Only You and Someone Who Loved You. A deluxe vinyl edition followed, including 2024 singles Different Kind of Heartbreak and Home. The band has completed two headline tours of the North East, earned regular regional radio play, and made repeat festival appearances, including at Jumpin’ Hot Club’s Country Cantina.
Their latest single Noah is a country-folk reflection on the wonder of growing up, originally written for Matt’s nephew. The song captures that quiet, powerful moment when a child’s world begins to open itself to endless possibility.
With more singles planned throughout 2026 Lost Lot continue to build their world one song at a time.
