How does it feel to be part of Aelius Alternative Music Festival?
It feels amazing to return to the festival a few years later, but this time as a headliner! It’s my first time headlining a local all-dayer so it’s amazing to see how much the hard graft with the music is paying off! The team are amazing, and they’ve put so much work into the event, I can’t wait to get amongst it.
For anyone coming across you for the first time at the festival, how would you describe your sound?
My music is best described as dreamy shoegazey rock! Our live sound focuses on atmosphere and control, combining haunting vocals with detailed pedal work and layered guitar tones, creating a really captivating and immersive live experience.
Is there a particular track in the set you think will hit especially well live?
‘I’m Sorry I Let You Down’ is always a crowd favourite, however we’ve perfected the end of ‘Blissfully Miles Away’ so it’ll transcend everyone into another dimension as the song ends…
What do you want people to take away from seeing you perform?
I’d love for them to want more, to want to come to our headline shows or immerse themselves into my discography. My music is universal, it’s there for people to relax, to get angry, or even just to sit and reflect on their own paths, so to grab their attention in this way would be cool.
How important do you think festivals like this are for artists and the wider North East scene?
Massively important! They showcase an incredibly, diverse range of local talent, bring new music to people’s ears they may have not heard about before, help promoters do what they do best, support independent venues when they need it most, and generally just cultivate the scene in a way where people come together and switch off from the outside world and their problems.
Are you bringing any new material with you, or working on anything at the minute people should keep an eye out for?
I’m currently in studio mode recording some new tracks to put out throughout this year, so I tend to keep the new stuff until closer to the release date to give us time to perfect it! But we will be playing my latest single ‘Ruining The Moment’ which I’m so excited for, it’s huge live.
What has been the biggest step forward for you as an artist or band recently?
I think the festivals we have planned this summer are really exciting and I can’t wait to announce more soon, there’s nothing better than that nervous excited feeling you get in your stomach when an offer comes in. But also I feel like even just from being away for a few months, I’ve came back ready more than ever to push myself to try new things, and to not care what people think. Last year went downhill when I lost my passion as I became so consumed by the industry, but this year I’m on my own path, and the music is flourishing because of it, I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on!
