Café del Mundo will bring their Guitarize The World tour to Glasshouse 2 in Gateshead on Thursday 8 April 2027. For North East audiences, the Gateshead date offers a chance to hear the pair’s two-guitar arrangements in the intimate setting of Glasshouse 2. Their music draws on Andalusian guitar traditions while taking in classical, jazz, pop, rock and electronic influences. The duo describe their live approach as “Pura Música”: putting the sound of two acoustic guitars at the centre of a concert without losing the excitement of a larger production.

From viral guitar arrangements to international stages
Café del Mundo have built an audience well beyond conventional classical and flamenco circles. According to their announcement, their videos have reached more than 250 million streams on Instagram, while their arrangement of Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ has attracted 1.6 million YouTube views. Their version of Ludovico Einaudi’s ‘Una Mattina’ also went viral.
That online success has been followed by major live appearances, including a solo show for 4,000 people at Mannheim’s SAP Arena and orchestral tours across Europe. The duo recorded at Abbey Road with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, where they met Sir Paul McCartney, who told them he was a fan. Their latest album, Guitarize The World, was released by Sony Classical on 9 October 2026, following their symphonic recording with the orchestra.
Two musicians, two different routes to the guitar
Jan Pascal received his first guitar from his grandfather in Spain and began composing as a child. He later established his own recording studio and developed his distinctive sound around the Spanish guitar. Alexander Kilian trained with Zaza Miminoshvili and won an international competition aged fifteen performing Paco de Lucía’s ‘Guajiras de Lucía’. He completed an artistic diploma in jazz guitar in 2011.
They first met at a guitar workshop in 2007 and have since released more than ten albums and written more than eighty original pieces. Their shows combine virtuoso playing with accessible arrangements that make space for audiences who might never normally attend a guitar concert.
“We see our contribution to the guitar in bringing this wonderful instrument into grand entertainment. Out of the niche, and onto stages worldwide,” says Kilian.
