Circuit des Yeux and Alan Sparhawk Score Nosferatu at Gosforth Civic Theatre
Circuit des Yeux and Alan Sparhawk perform a live score to Nosferatu at Gosforth Civic Theatre, Newcastle, on 2 November 2026. Tickets and details.
Circuit des Yeux and Alan Sparhawk bring a live score for F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu to Gosforth Civic Theatre on Monday 2 November 2026. Rather than a conventional gig, this is a meeting of silent cinema and live experimental music, with the musicians performing an original soundtrack to the landmark 1922 film.
Table Of Content
Circuit des Yeux is the recording and performance project of American musician Haley Fohr. For this appearance she is joined by Alan Sparhawk, best known for his work with Duluth band Low. The pairing gives the screening a musical identity of its own: two artists whose work has explored texture, tension and the expressive possibilities of sound are taking on one of cinema’s defining horror films.
Nosferatu with live music in Newcastle
Directed by F.W. Murnau, Nosferatu is an unauthorised adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Its images of Count Orlok, played by Max Schreck, remain among the most recognisable in horror cinema. More than a century after the film appeared, its stark visual language still leaves space for musicians to approach it from a new direction.
The performance is presented as a live score, so audiences can expect the film and music to be experienced together rather than as separate parts of the evening. It is an unusual addition to Newcastle’s autumn programme and an opportunity to hear both musicians in a setting quite different from a standard headline show.
Circuit des Yeux released Halo on the Inside through Matador Records in 2025. Sparhawk’s work with Low has made him a significant figure in independent music, and his involvement is central to this particular presentation of the film.
