Death Cab for Cutie at The Glasshouse Gateshead | 21 Sept 2026

Death Cab for Cutie Gateshead brings the band’s I Built You A Tower Tour to The Glasshouse on Monday 21 September 2026, with Pool Kids joining them as support in Sage One.

The show lands during a UK run built around I Built You A Tower, the band’s eleventh studio album. Recorded across Los Angeles, Seattle, Bellingham and Portland, the record sees Death Cab for Cutie reconnecting with the independent spirit that shaped their earliest work while still carrying the scale they have built over nearly three decades.

Death Cab for Cutie at The Glasshouse

Formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997, Death Cab for Cutie grew from Ben Gibbard’s early solo recordings into one of the most recognisable names in modern alternative rock. Their catalogue has moved through intimate indie songwriting, expansive guitar records and increasingly ambitious live shows, while albums including Transatlanticism and Plans remain central to the band’s story.

The new tour follows the release of I Built You A Tower. The album was produced and engineered by John Congleton and came together from a concentrated three-week run of sessions. It arrives after the band’s recent anniversary touring around Transatlanticism and Plans, giving this latest chapter a clear sense of looking forward rather than simply revisiting the past.

Pool Kids support Death Cab for Cutie in Gateshead

Pool Kids complete the bill at The Glasshouse. Their addition gives the evening another alternative-rock edge before Death Cab for Cutie take over Sage One for the main set.

A major September date for Gateshead

For anyone who has followed Death Cab for Cutie from their early indie years through to the larger-scale touring of the last decade, this Gateshead date offers a chance to hear the newest material alongside a catalogue that has stretched across almost 30 years. With Sage One set in a standing layout for the night, it should also feel much closer to a full rock show than a seated concert-hall stop.
