Live Nation describes Warning Signs as Marriott’s third full-length album and a record that pushes his sound further into something more jagged, romantic and emotionally unrestrained. The Newcastle date forms part of a wider UK run that includes Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff and London. O2 City Hall gives Marriott a substantially bigger room than the club circuit where much of his earlier live reputation was built, making this another clear step up in scale.

That bigger setting should suit the direction of Warning Signs. Marriott’s music has increasingly balanced intimate writing with heavier, more expansive arrangements, and a theatre-sized room gives those two sides space to coexist without flattening either one.
