Michael Starring Ben Brings Michael Jackson Tribute to Newcastle

Michael Starring Ben Newcastle comes to O2 City Hall on Friday 7 May 2027, bringing the long-running Michael Jackson tribute production back to the North East. Doors are advertised for 6.30pm, with the show beginning at 7.30pm.

Ben Bowman leads the production, which combines a live band, costumes and choreography with songs from Michael Jackson’s solo career and The Jackson 5 years. Beat It, Billie Jean, Thriller and Man in the Mirror are among the tracks highlighted for the show.

The production is built as a full theatre show rather than a stripped-back tribute set. Bowman’s performance sits at the centre, while the live musicians, dance routines and costume changes aim to recreate different eras from Jackson’s career across one evening.

That makes the City Hall a natural setting for the production. Its stage can accommodate the visual side of the show while the seated theatre layout keeps the focus on the performance. The Newcastle date is part of an extensive run of performances around the UK.

The organisers make clear that this is an independent tribute production and is not associated with or endorsed by the Michael Jackson Estate. For audiences, the draw is the opportunity to hear a catalogue of familiar pop songs performed live within a theatrical presentation.
