Amelia Coburn joins Celtic Connections 2027
For Coburn, the appearance is another opportunity to bring her distinctive Teesside-rooted songwriting to a national festival audience. Her music moves between folk, baroque pop and gothic storytelling, with vivid characters and a theatrical streak setting her apart.
Her 2024 debut album Between the Moon and the Milkman, produced by Bill Ryder-Jones, introduced more listeners to that unusual world. More recently, she has continued to build her live reputation through headline dates, festival appearances and collaborations, including work with Paul Weller.
The Glasgow booking places her alongside Iona Zajac, whose intimate, emotionally direct songs draw on folk, indie and alternative music. Rather than a conventional support arrangement, the event is billed as a festival-exclusive co-headline performance, giving audiences the chance to hear both artists on the same evening.
New single and second album ahead of the Glasgow show
The festival announcement arrives just as Coburn releases her new single I Just Want To Say, out on 7 October 2026. The song is written from the perspective of a woman sending love letters to a serial killer, exploring the unsettling point at which love and devotion become obsession. A new music video accompanies the release.
The track introduces Coburn’s second album, Myself and Other Monsters, due on 5 March 2027. Bill Ryder-Jones returns as producer following her debut Between the Moon and the Milkman, while Paul Weller features on the forthcoming record. Its gothic storytelling examines the darker impulses and contradictions people try to conceal.
That makes the Celtic Connections performance especially well timed: Glasgow audiences will see Coburn between the single’s release and the arrival of the new album, with fresh material adding another dimension to her live set.
