Fabergé Falls at Little Buildings: psych-rock from Paris to Ouseburn
Fabergé Falls arrive with debut album Blue Light Filter, recorded live at Motorbass studio in Paris and released through Paper Garden Records. Their sound moves between psych-rock drive and more atmospheric textures, with influences stretching from Tame Impala and Boards of Canada to of Montreal and stacked harmonies associated with The Beatles and The Beach Boys.
That combination should translate well to Little Buildings. The room rewards bands that can move between detail and volume without losing either, and Fabergé Falls’ mix of layered melody and heavier psychedelic momentum looks built for that sort of close setting.
The local support makes the night more than a touring-band stop. Snakes With Tits describe their own sound as “Radgewave Mamgaze”, combining dreamy shoegaze, fuzz-heavy guitars and psychedelic rock. It is deliberately hard to pin down, which makes them a strong contrast to Fabergé Falls without pulling the bill in a completely different direction.
Spilt Milk bring another shift again. The North East indie jazz-funk band have been active for seven years and are built around triplet brothers Oscar, Isaac and Theo Nolan. Their influences include Jamiroquai, Steely Dan and Rex Orange County, with vocal harmonies adding a softer melodic edge to the groove-heavy foundations.
Three acts with different starting points but enough crossover in melody, texture and rhythm should give the night a natural flow rather than three disconnected sets.
