Islands in the Stream Brings Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Songs to Newcastle
Islands in the Stream plays O2 City Hall Newcastle on 28 February 2027. Read our show preview with official ticket details.

Islands in the Stream comes to O2 City Hall Newcastle on Sunday 28 February 2027 for an evening celebrating the music of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Doors are advertised for 6.30pm, with the performance scheduled to begin at 7.30pm. Rather than a concert featuring the original artists, this is a touring tribute production that brings their songs together on one stage.
The show takes its title from the duet Islands in the Stream, originally a major hit for Parton and Rogers. The programme goes beyond that one recording, drawing on the songs each artist made famous separately. Dolly’s catalogue includes Jolene, 9 to 5, Here You Come Again and I Will Always Love You, while Kenny’s includes The Gambler, Lucille, Ruby and Coward of the County. Those titles are included in the production’s current touring repertoire, giving a useful idea of what the Newcastle audience can expect.
The range of songs offers more than one side of country music. Some are built around sharp character-driven storytelling, others around a more reflective melody, and the duets allow two voices to come together in the same arrangement. Bringing those approaches into one concert makes the show different from a night devoted entirely to either Parton or Rogers. The production recreates music associated with the pair; it is not presented as an appearance by the original performers.
O2 City Hall’s seated concert format gives audiences room to follow the vocals and arrangements as the programme moves through the two catalogues. The official listing does not publish a complete minute-by-minute running order or identify a separate support set for Newcastle. Although the venue lists an 11pm curfew, the concert could finish earlier, so this should not be treated as its exact end time.
The Newcastle booking is for Sunday 28 February 2027. Check the official City Hall event page for availability, access arrangements and any last-minute changes to the advertised 6.30pm doors and 7.30pm start before travelling.
