Newcastle DJ and producer Schak is bringing his annual Christmas homecoming to NX on Friday 18 December 2026, with MDDLTN, Nanna Makina, Symmetrik and special guest Junkie Kid joining him for a seven-hour festive rave. The Black Eye Friday show runs from 9pm until 4am as part of the venue’s NX Loves series.

Schak returns to Newcastle as new Makina single passes 250,000 streams
The announcement follows the release of Impacto (Makina), Schak’s collaboration with Dutch electronic duo W&W and DJ Skryker. According to the announcement, the track passed 250,000 streams in the days following its release through W&W’s Rave Culture imprint. For Schak, it is another chance to take the Makina sound he grew up with in the North East to a wider audience.
“I’m really excited for this show because it feels like we’re entering a completely new chapter. Seeing Makina getting the attention, press and recognition it’s receiving right now has got me buzzing,” Schak said.
“When I was growing up listening to this music, there was a real stigma attached to it. People were put down and judged simply for loving Makina. To see that changing and to watch this music finally being celebrated and reaching a whole new generation feels incredibly special.”
He added: “I genuinely believe we’re living through one of the most exciting times Makina has ever had, and it feels like we’re only at the beginning. There are amazing things ahead, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this moment than coming home to Newcastle at Christmas and putting on a huge show at NX. It’s going to be a special one.”
Schak first found national recognition with Moving All Around (Jumpin’), which received support from Patrick Topping and a nomination for BBC Radio 1’s Dance Track of the Year. He has since played across the UK, Ibiza, Europe and the US, including appearances at Ushuaïa, Hï Ibiza, elrow and Creamfields. His ThirtyThree label and events platform also champions the high-energy rave sounds that influence his own productions.
MDDLTN, Nanna Makina, Symmetrik and Junkie Kid join the bill
Schak’s Christmas homecoming brings together artists from several corners of hard dance. MDDLTN combines techno, trance, hard house and other high-energy club sounds, while Belfast duo Symmetrik bring their own blend of trance and hard dance.
North East favourite Nanna Makina returns to the bill with the Makina sounds that have made her a familiar face on the region’s dance circuit. Mexican DJ and producer Junkie Kid completes the line-up as special guest, drawing on hardstyle, hard house and techno.

NX Loves Presents: Schak takes place at NX Newcastle on Friday 18 December 2026, from 9pm to 4am. Tickets go on presale at 12pm on Friday 25 September, with general sale following at 2pm the same day via Skiddle.
