Single Review: Cane Rouge ‘Lost and Found’

“What an absolute banger that is” was my initial reaction upon hearing this song live for the first time, nothing has changed. Cane Rouge have been making a name for themselves in recent months as one of the best hard rock bands on the local scene, whilst also picking up some national recognition along the way. Even though it is not one of their fastest and hardest tracks, “Lost and found” does more to show off the band’s songwriting chops. 

There is so much to love about this track, considering the band only formed back in 2023 – they have made leaps and bounds with their songwriting and now it’s finally starting to show in their bodies of work. The song’s structure is quite simple, but it features one of the catchiest riffs I’ve heard in a good long while, complete with some outstanding drum work and all round excellent musicianship, this song is a cut above any that the band has released thus far. Perhaps an album in the near future?

Ant, the lead singer and only guitarist of the trio, has improved his singing massively for this song which seems to revolve around the smaller moments that define us, as well as knocking hard on the door for days gone and falling prey to the nostalgia that comes with it. In fact, that riff I mentioned earlier gives me a hit of it almost instantly. It is them at their most honest and most vulnerable and it shows. This song carries more weight lyrically but also sounds like it was written with care and caution from the first note. 

Sometimes all you really need is to listen to something loud and filled with emotion. “Lost and found” is now available to stream on all major platforms.
