“Aye… Probably” is the latest single from dreamgaze indie band Fine Night Elements (FNE) – this song is split into three sections and has seamless transitions between all three to a point you don’t really notice it as a listener, the objective is to get swept away in the vibes.
This band reminds me a lot of another band, called Meltt. In fact, they’re very similar but at the same time clearly different. In the press release provided, the band states that “(The) lyric writing was a spontaneous process, with the focus being on trying to capture the first glimpses of thoughts and words as opposed to trying to formulate strong narratives and themes which usually entail stressful and time taking re-writes. We believe this approach to the lyrics and vocal melody has really fit the musicality of the song, leaving it in a dream-like state with a vibe of wonder.”
I love this approach. Free thinking, no pressure, no need for re-writes or for painstakingly trying to make a word rhyme with another word to make the song seem coherent… I mean how many songs out there are named or even feature the words “aye… probably” ? I think you don’t get that song title without using this approach to lyric writing. Hats off to you there, FNE.
