The Snowman in Concert
The Snowman in Concert comes to The Glasshouse as part of its Christmas 2026 programme. Find the date, venue details and official ticket information.
The Snowman returns to The Glasshouse on 23 and 24 December, with Royal Northern Sinfonia performing the music live in Sage One as Raymond Briggs’ Christmas classic plays on the big screen.
A young North East soloist will take on Walking in the Air, with performances spread across the two days at 11am, 2pm and 5pm.
A Christmas Eve tradition in Sage One
At barely half an hour long, The Snowman has somehow become one of the most enduring bits of British Christmas television. A huge part of that is the music, and hearing it played by Royal Northern Sinfonia gives the familiar animation a completely different scale.
The live performance of Walking in the Air is always going to be the moment people wait for, and having a young singer from the North East take the solo makes the Gateshead performances feel that little bit more local.
With several times available across 23 and 24 December, this is also one of the easier Glasshouse events to fit around the final couple of days before Christmas. Families can choose a morning or afternoon performance, while the 5pm slot offers a later option.
The venue has plenty of new festive additions this year, but some traditions don’t really need changing. The Snowman with a live orchestra is one of them.
