The Futureheads will play Shiiine On Weekender 2027, taking Sunderland’s sharp-edged indie rock to Butlin’s Skegness on Friday 19 March. The band are part of a three-day bill that stretches from Cast and Babyshambles to Ash, Buzzcocks and a host of familiar alternative names.

The festival runs from 19–21 March, with the music spread across the resort’s indoor rooms. The Futureheads are confirmed for the Friday programme in Reds, alongside Reverend & The Makers and The Rifles. Cast headline Friday’s wider line-up, but individual stage times have not yet been announced.
The Futureheads at Shiiine On Weekender 2027
For a festival built around the meeting point of indie, alternative music and dance culture, The Futureheads make a natural addition. The Sunderland band brought a distinct, tightly wound sound to British guitar music, with clipped rhythms and overlapping vocals that set them apart from many of their contemporaries. Their inclusion on this bill puts a North East act among artists whose records helped shape different corners of the same era.
It is also a chance for people heading to Skegness from the North East to see a familiar band in a very different setting. Rather than a standard gig with a support slot and a fixed finish, Shiiine On spreads performances, DJ sets and other events across an entire weekend.

Babyshambles top Saturday’s programme, which also includes Gene, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Puressence and Dub Pistols. Sunday brings Ash, Starsailor, Buzzcocks, Sleeper and Dubstar, while the wider weekend features sets from The Orb, EMF and other dance favourites.
The organisers have also announced an unplugged programme featuring The Bluetones and Chris Helme, plus comedy and late-night entertainment. The mix means visitors can move between bands and other events without leaving the resort.
