The Howlers bring Heavy to Newcastle with Beyond Vinyl and Cluny dates
The Howlers release Heavy on 9 October, with Newcastle shows at Beyond Vinyl on 20 October and The Cluny on 4 March 2027.
The Howlers will release their second album, Heavy, on Friday 9 October 2026 via FLG Records, with two Newcastle appearances lined up around the release.
The London indie rock duo head to Beyond Vinyl on Tuesday 20 October for a 2pm in-store performance, before returning to The Cluny on Thursday 4 March 2027 as part of their UK album tour.
Their latest single, “D.R.I.V.E”, is out now. Built around a driving groove, the track gives another taste of the heavier sound Adam Young and drummer Toby Richards have been working towards.
“The vision of this album was to write a heavier record than our debut — a record that can be played in a club, in a mosh pit, and also behind the wheel,” says Young. “The song itself is about the thrill of meeting someone you can’t resist, someone who, when they walk across the room, you’re fixated.”

The new record follows a change in the band at the end of 2024, when Young rebuilt The Howlers as a two-piece alongside Richards. Their self-funded debut, What You’ve Got To Lose To Win It All, had taken them into the UK Independent Breakers Chart Top 10 and onto a sold-out 18-date UK headline tour. A European run followed, giving the new line-up a chance to try out the material that would become Heavy.
While the debut drew on grief and personal loss, this album looks at desire, impulsiveness and the consequences that follow. Young describes the contrast between the pull of a late night and the clarity of the morning after.
“It’s the moment you find yourself again,” he says.
Young worked on the record with long-time collaborator Chris Ostler of Black Honey. Rather than beginning in a conventional studio, they exchanged demos and reworked songs remotely, bringing Richards into rehearsal spaces to capture live drums towards the end of the process.
The release follows a busy stretch on the road, with appearances alongside Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Deep Purple and Wolfmother. October’s in-store run gives fans a chance to hear the new songs in much smaller surroundings.
