Ugly Ozo at Little Buildings: dive marks a darker turn
Ugly Ozo arrive in Newcastle with second EP dive giving the current live set a clear centre. Led by Jessica Baker and joined by Boo Baker on bass and Tristan Northard on drums, the band combine grunge-edged guitars with sharp indie hooks and writing that is deliberately personal rather than carefully polished.
The five-track EP was released in May 2026 and includes “hi, how are you?”, “overkill”, “jackpot”, “godspeed” and “MISERY”. Baker has described it as a more serious and disaffected counterpart to the earlier stargirl EP, using the songs to work through a period of change with fewer filters and less distance.
That openness is matched by a live sound designed to hit quickly. The songs are compact, direct and built around the tension between vulnerability and distortion, which should suit Little Buildings particularly well. The room rewards bands that can make intensity feel immediate rather than oversized.
Ugly Ozo have also picked up support across independent press and radio, including BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X, while the current run of dates takes them through the UK and Europe. Newcastle lands immediately after Glasgow and before Leeds and London, placing Little Buildings right in the middle of a busy touring stretch.
Special guests are still to be confirmed, so the bill may grow closer to the date. Even without that detail, the combination of a fresh EP, a band in a visible period of momentum and one of Newcastle’s most intimate rooms makes this a strong late-autumn booking.
