Viennese New Year’s Day Concert
Viennese New Year's Day Concert comes to The Glasshouse as part of its Christmas 2026 programme. Find the date, venue details and official ticket information.
The Glasshouse is starting 2027 in traditional style, with the Viennese New Year’s Day Concert returning to Sage One on Friday 1 January.
After more than a month of Christmas shows, film concerts and festive nights out, the afternoon concert brings the season to a close with the kind of music that has become synonymous with New Year’s Day.
Start 2027 in Sage One
There’s something quite appealing about beginning the year with a live orchestra rather than another afternoon recovering on the sofa. The Viennese New Year tradition is built around music that feels celebratory without needing tinsel or Christmas songs to do the work.
The 3pm start also makes this an easy-going New Year’s Day outing. You don’t have to be up at dawn, and there’s still plenty of the day left afterwards — assuming the night before hasn’t completely defeated you.
For The Glasshouse, it rounds off a festive programme that began back in November with Royal Northern Sinfonia’s Winter Tour and has moved through pop, folk, dance, family gigs and live film scores along the way.
By the time the final notes ring around Sage One, Christmas will be done and 2027 properly under way. As ways to mark the change of year go, that feels considerably nicer than taking the decorations down.
