Young Rebel Set announce a Christmas homecoming show at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt on Saturday 19 December 2026.
Teesside indie favourites to round off a landmark year on Saturday 19 December, with a celebratory Christmas show and new music in the offing
Young Rebel Set are heading home for Christmas, announcing a special festive show at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Saturday 19 December following another remarkable year for the band.
The much-loved Stockton outfit will bring their celebrated live show to one of Teesside’s most iconic venues after a year that has seen them return to the European touring circuit, play London’s prestigious SXSW festival and continue work on their long-awaited third studio album.

Following a triumphant comeback in 2025, which included sold-out German dates and two packed homecoming shows in Stockton, the band have carried that momentum into 2026 with further European performances, including an extensive run of dates across Germany in August.
Now, with new music on the horizon, YRS are preparing to celebrate Christmas with the fans who have supported them from the very beginning. The show will feature favourites from across the band’s career, alongside new material offering a taste of what’s to come.
In a joint statement, YRS said: “To be heading into Christmas with a big hometown show after the year we’ve had feels pretty special. We’ve been blown away by the response since getting back together.
“And there’s nothing quite like playing back on Teesside. These are the people and places where it all started for us, and we can’t think of a better way to round off the year than getting everyone together for a proper Christmas celebration.
“We’ve been working behind the scenes on new music, which we’ll be looking into releasing next year and we’re really excited for people to hear what we’ve been creating. We may just throw in a couple of new songs alongside the old favourites, so expect a big night. We can’t wait.”
Formed in Stockton in 2007, Young Rebel Set built a devoted following across the UK and Europe with their distinctive blend of anthemic indie rock, folk influences and heartfelt songwriting. Their two acclaimed albums, Curse Our Love and Crocodile, helped establish the band as one of Teesside’s most successful musical exports, with songs including If I Was, Lion’s Mouth and Measure of a Man becoming enduring fan favourites.
Following the sad passing of original frontman Matthew Chipchase in 2019, the band’s future remained uncertain. However, an emotional memorial performance in Stockton in 2024 brought the surviving members back together and ultimately sparked a new chapter.

With a refreshed line-up in 2025, YRS made their long-awaited return, releasing the five-track SUN EP, securing airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Introducing, and reconnecting with audiences across Europe. Their comeback gathered further momentum in 2026, including an appearance at SXSW London in June, memorable UK festival dates and another run of German shows over the summer.
The Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt show promises to be a fitting finale to another remarkable chapter in the band’s story, as they look ahead to new music and another exciting year in 2027.
