British blues-rock guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor has announced an eight-date UK tour for May 2027, including a North East stop at PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay on Tuesday 4 May.

The tour follows the release of Taylor’s new studio album The Trouble With Love, due out through Journeyman Records on Friday 23 October 2026. The record arrives the same day tickets go on general sale, giving audiences a first opportunity to hear the latest chapter in her recording career before next spring’s live dates.
Taylor will begin the tour at Harpenden’s Eric Morecambe Centre on 2 May, heading to Leeds City Varieties Music Hall on 3 May before arriving at the PLAYHOUSE in Whitley Bay on Tuesday 4 May. Further stops take in London’s Cadogan Hall, The Apex in Bury St Edmunds, the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Birmingham Town Hall and St Luke’s in Glasgow.
The tour is set to bring together material from The Trouble With Love and songs drawn from across Taylor’s catalogue. Recent releases include Black & Gold, Heavy Soul and Nobody’s Fool, alongside The Blues Album, which reached the top of Billboard’s Blues Albums chart. Earlier records include Reckless Heart, Wild, The Dirty Truth and her debut White Sugar.

Discovered as a teenager by Eurythmics musician Dave Stewart, Taylor has since built an international following through touring and recording, developing a distinctive combination of blues guitar, rock arrangements and expressive vocals. The forthcoming UK dates give fans an opportunity to hear her latest songs in a live setting.

New album: The Trouble With Love
The May dates follow Taylor’s eleventh studio album, bringing the new songs into theatres alongside selections from her previous records. For Whitley Bay audiences, it is a rare chance to catch this tour in the North East, with the PLAYHOUSE show following the Leeds date and preceding the London concert. Taylor’s playing first gained wider attention after Dave Stewart discovered her at 16, and her records since have moved between blues-rooted songwriting and a harder rock edge.
