African Soul Rebels at The Glasshouse | Gig Preview
African Soul Rebels bring Les Amazones d’Afrique, Gasper Nali and N'famady Kouyaté to The Glasshouse Gateshead on 9 October 2026.
African Soul Rebels arrives at The Glasshouse on Friday 9 October 2026 with Les Amazones d’Afrique, Gasper Nali and N’famady Kouyaté sharing the Sage One bill. The Music Beyond Mainstream series returns with a night built around African creativity, rhythm and live performance, bringing three very different artists together under one roof.

Les Amazones d’Afrique lead the bill with a collective sound that combines West African musical traditions with contemporary production and a strong message around women’s rights and social change. Gasper Nali brings his distinctive Malawian kwela style, while N’famady Kouyaté adds balafon, guitar and Mandingue influences to the night.

The breadth of the bill is what makes this date stand out because the artists are connected by energy and musical roots rather than by one fixed genre. Sage One’s standing pit should help keep that energy close to the stage, particularly for a show designed around movement and audience response.
The programme also gives Gateshead audiences the chance to see artists whose work has travelled through major festivals, international stages and very different musical traditions. Rather than presenting those traditions as something static, the show puts them into a contemporary live context where collaboration and reinvention are central.
