Samling Academy in Concert at The Glasshouse | Preview

Samling Academy brings a new cohort of young classical singers to The Glasshouse in Gateshead on Sunday 25 October 2026 for an afternoon of song and opera in Sage Two. The concert pairs Samling Academy Singers with Samling Artist pianists, giving the programme a strong regional development focus while showcasing repertoire from the baroque period through to the present day.

The Academy works with young singers selected by audition, with many coming from schools and universities across the North East. That local connection gives the concert added relevance, particularly for audiences interested in hearing emerging classical voices at an early stage of their development.

The programme includes solos, duets and ensembles, allowing the singers to move between different styles rather than presenting a single narrow repertoire. Pianists Jonathan Ware, Jo Ramadan, George Ireland, Sid Ramchander and Yihan Zhao are among those supporting the performance.

The Glasshouse lists the concert for 3pm with a one-hour running time and no interval. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
