A New Orleans Funeral for Summer 2026 at The Cluny
The Cluny is turning the end of summer into a New Orleans-style celebration, with live music from Alligator Gumbo alongside DJs playing music associated with the city from the 1920s through to the 1960s. The venue is billing the night as an early-start, early-finish party, with doors from 5pm.
Alligator Gumbo are a Leeds-based group who have been playing together since 2011. Their set focuses on the early New Orleans jazz and swing tradition, with an emphasis on the loose, improvised feel that defined the music of the era. The band have taken that sound around the UK, appearing everywhere from bars to established jazz festivals.
There is more to the event than the live set. The Cluny is also leaning into the theme with gumbo from the kitchen, bourbon at the bar and DJs keeping the room moving around the band. The venue is encouraging people to dress up for the occasion, while swing dancing is very much part of the plan.
