Martin Simpson at The Glasshouse | Gateshead Gig Preview
Martin Simpson brings the Some Kind of Jubilee album tour to The Glasshouse Gateshead on 28 October 2026.
Martin Simpson brings his Some Kind of Jubilee album tour to The Glasshouse in Gateshead on Wednesday 28 October 2026, returning to Sage Two with new songs, reimagined classics and traditional material. The record arrives 50 years after his first LP, giving the tour a natural anniversary context without turning the night into a retrospective-only show.

Simpson’s reputation rests on both his guitar playing and his ability to make traditional songs feel immediate rather than preserved behind glass. The new album continues that balance, mixing original material with songs that have been reshaped through years of performance.

Sage Two should suit the intimacy of the solo setup particularly well because the room can keep the detail in Simpson’s acoustic and slide guitar playing close to the audience. His shows are built around storytelling as much as technique, which gives the set a different feel from a conventional folk concert.
The Glasshouse lists the performance for 8pm, with tickets currently available. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
