Sports Team share ‘Billy’ ahead of Newcastle Digital show

Sports Team’s new single “Billy” is out now, arriving ahead of the band’s intimate Newcastle show at Digital on Tuesday 29 September 2026.

The Mercury Prize-nominated group have returned with a track that takes the freewheeling indie-soul of their 2025 album Boys These Days and adds a more jagged rock ’n’ roll edge. The result is one of the band’s most enjoyably raucous releases to date.

Sports Team return with new single Billy

“Billy” marks Sports Team’s first release since their third studio album arrived in May 2025. It pairs the band’s melodic instincts with a scrappier energy, while the accompanying video pushes the latest chapter forward.

The single also lands as Sports Team prepare for a run of smaller UK rooms. The tour begins in Southampton before visiting Oxford, Bristol, Liverpool, Blackpool and Edinburgh, then reaches Newcastle at the end of September.

Sports Team at Digital Newcastle

Sports Team play Digital on Tuesday 29 September as part of the DIY Alive Tour. Porij and Pack of Animals complete the Newcastle bill, with doors opening at 7pm and the event listed for ages 14 and over.

The smaller venue should suit the restless live energy that has helped Sports Team build their following. It also gives North East fans an early chance to hear “Billy” alongside material from Boys These Days and the band’s wider catalogue.
