Anna Erhard at The Cluny: a new chapter with 1000 Sheep
Erhard arrives with a new album cycle underway. Her single “1000 Sheep” opens the campaign for an album of the same name, due in February 2027, making this Newcastle date one of the first chances to hear that material in a full live set.
Her writing sits in a loose space between indie pop, dry humour and lo-fi guitar music. The comparisons often point towards Kurt Vile and early Beck, but the appeal is more specific than that: Erhard builds songs from small observations, travel details and everyday encounters, then lets distorted guitars and keyboards give those scenes an off-centre shape.
Her third album Botanical Garden helped widen that audience in 2024, followed by UK touring, European dates and an appearance at Glastonbury. BBC Radio 6 Music support and sessions including Maida Vale have also pushed her work beyond the independent circuit without sanding away the personality that makes it distinctive.
Dana Gavanski adds another carefully matched voice to the bill. Both artists are interested in detail and atmosphere rather than brute force, so Cluny’s close room should suit a night built around songs that reward attention.
The timing also matters. With 1000 Sheep arriving just weeks before the show, the set should feel less like a catalogue recap and more like the start of a new period.
