Atomic Rooster at The Cluny will bring the British progressive-rock band’s current live show to Newcastle on Friday 26 March 2027. Guitarist Steve ‘Boltz’ Bolton leads the group, with doors at the Ouseburn venue advertised for 7.30pm.

Atomic Rooster’s history stretches back to the late 1960s and early 1970s, when they developed a heavy, keyboard-driven sound that sat between progressive rock, blues and hard rock. Songs including Devil’s Answer and Tomorrow Night became chart hits, while their albums built a following for the darker side of the group’s music.

The band reformed in 2016 with the blessing of founder Vincent Crane’s widow. Bolton, who played with the band during the 1970s, now leads its current incarnation. That distinction matters: this is a continuation of the band’s musical legacy, not a reunion of every member associated with its original records.
The official venue announcement says the current band draw heavily on early albums including Death Walks Behind You and In Hearing Of Atomic Rooster. Their set also includes more recent music from Circle The Sun, released on Esoteric Recordings and Cherry Red Records in October 2025. The Newcastle show therefore combines material from widely separated parts of the catalogue.
The Cluny’s main room puts the band in a setting smaller than the festivals and theatres where some long-running rock acts appear. The interplay between heavy guitar lines, keyboards and the rhythm section should be especially apparent in a room of this scale. The venue has not announced a complete running order or support act for the show.
