10cc co-founder Graham Gouldman brings his Heart Full of Songs show to PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay on Saturday 10 October 2026, putting the focus firmly on one of British pop’s most enduring songwriting catalogues.
Table Of Content
Rather than a full-scale 10cc production, Heart Full of Songs strips the material back into a semi-acoustic setting, giving Gouldman and his band space to revisit songs he has written or co-written across more than six decades.

The set reaches well beyond 10cc. Alongside favourites including I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday, audiences can expect songs Gouldman wrote for some of the defining groups of the 1960s, including The Hollies’ Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window, The Yardbirds’ For Your Love and Heart Full of Soul, and Herman’s Hermits’ No Milk Today.
There is also room for music from Wax, his partnership with the late Andrew Gold, as well as material from film soundtracks and Gouldman’s solo records. His most recent album, I Have Notes, underlined the esteem in which he remains held, with contributors including Ringo Starr, Brian May, Hank Marvin and Albert Lee.
Gouldman’s songwriting career began while he was still a teenager in Manchester. After For Your Love became a hit for The Yardbirds, he built an extraordinary run as a songwriter before co-founding 10cc in 1972. The band went on to score a string of major hits, including UK number ones Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday.
His contribution to songwriting has since been recognised internationally, including induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, while in 2025 he was awarded an MBE for services to music.

A more intimate way to hear the songs
Heart Full of Songs began more than a decade ago as a three-piece opening 10cc concerts before developing into a show in its own right. The current four-piece features Gouldman on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass and ukulele alongside Keith Hayman, Andy Park and Ben Stone.
That smaller format is central to the appeal: familiar songs are brought closer to their original writing, with the melodies, lyrics and arrangements given room to breathe. For anyone who knows Gouldman primarily through 10cc, the Whitley Bay date also offers a chance to hear just how far his songwriting influence stretches beyond the band.
