Kevin McCallister is getting lost again at The Glasshouse this Christmas, with Home Alone 2: Lost in New York coming to Sage One with a live orchestra for the first time at the venue.

Royal Northern Sinfonia perform John Williams’ score in sync with the film on Sunday 20 December, with Ben Palmer conducting and performances at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Home Alone 2 gets the live orchestra treatment

The first Home Alone is already part of The Glasshouse’s Christmas programme, but the sequel has a musical identity of its own. New York gives everything a bigger backdrop, while Williams’ score still carries that mix of warmth, mischief and full-on festive nostalgia.

Watching the film with the music performed live changes where your attention goes. Moments that normally sit underneath the dialogue suddenly become much more noticeable, and with Royal Northern Sinfonia in Sage One there’s plenty of weight behind the big scenes.

There are two performances, so families can go for the afternoon slot while anyone wanting a later Christmas night out has the 7.30pm option.

It’s one of several live-to-film events at The Glasshouse this December, alongside the original Home Alone, The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Snowman. If you’ve already done the first film in concert, this is the obvious next one.
