Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies – Defrosted!
Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies – Defrosted! comes to The Glasshouse as part of its Christmas 2026 programme. Find the date, venue details and official ticket information.
Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies are bringing Defrosted! to Sage Two on Sunday 20 December, with two chances to catch one of the North East’s best-known folk songwriters just before Christmas.
The band play at 2pm and 7pm, giving the day a distinctly local alternative to Home Alone 2 over in Sage One.
Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies return for Christmas
Lowe’s songs have always had the North East running through them, whether he’s writing about people, places, work or the small details that make a story stick. With the Bad Pennies around him, those songs get a fuller live shape without losing the storytelling at their centre.
Defrosted! brings that approach into a seasonal setting. It’s a Christmas show, but one with its own voice rather than a night built entirely around the usual festive standards.
Sage Two should be a particularly good room for it. There’s enough space for the band to open things up, while still keeping the connection between performer and audience that folk music tends to need.
Two performances also make this one unusually flexible. The afternoon show works if you want to make a day of it around Gateshead Quays, while the 7pm performance gives you a more traditional evening gig.
