Scottish Christmas Songbook
Scottish Christmas Songbook comes to The Glasshouse as part of its Christmas 2026 programme. Find the date, venue details and official ticket information.
Scottish Christmas Songbook comes to Sage One on Tuesday 15 December, bringing a distinctly Scottish flavour to the middle of The Glasshouse’s festive season.
Rather than another generic collection of Christmas standards, the concert puts its own musical identity at the centre of the night, making it one of the more distinctive seasonal choices in the Gateshead programme.
A Scottish take on the Christmas songbook
By mid-December there’s no shortage of festive music around, so it helps when a show has a clear angle of its own. Scottish Christmas Songbook offers exactly that, drawing on songs and sounds that give the evening a sense of place as well as the expected seasonal atmosphere.
It follows Kate Rusby at Christmas in Sage One the previous evening, which makes for a strong couple of nights for anyone drawn to folk traditions and songs with roots beyond the usual Christmas playlist.
The following night, Sinfonia of London bring A Christmas Songbook to the same hall, before Matt Baker joins Royal Northern Sinfonia for Christmas at The Glasshouse on 17 December. In other words, this is the point where the venue’s festive programme is properly in full swing.
For anyone after a seasonal concert that isn’t quite the obvious choice, this could be one of the more interesting dates of the week.
