Split Dogs at The Cluny: momentum behind NICE N’ ROUGH
Split Dogs spent 2025 playing 90 shows across the UK and Europe, reaching more than 30,000 people through headline dates, festival appearances and support slots. That sort of schedule matters because it shapes a band differently from studio-only development: songs get tightened in front of audiences and the live set becomes its own identity.
Their run included a packed appearance in the 3,500-capacity Empress Ballroom at Rebellion Festival, along with shows alongside Gogol Bordello, Stiff Little Fingers, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Bad Nerves, Teen Mortgage, Battlesnake and C.O.F.F.I.N.
The Cluny date follows the release of second album NICE N’ ROUGH, recorded at Station House in Leeds with producer Jonah Falco and released through Venn Records. The record arrives after debut album HERE TO DESTROY, which sold more than 3,000 physical copies independently and reached three Official UK Album Charts.
Support from Bruise Control gives the night a useful extra edge. Both bands work best when the room feels physical rather than polished, so the combination should suit The Cluny’s close stage and low ceiling.
Split Dogs have built their reputation through repetition: getting onstage, refining the attack and moving on to the next room. Newcastle gets that machine at full speed rather than at the beginning of the process.
