Swing Into Christmas arrives at The Glasshouse on Wednesday 2 December, bringing a big dose of festive swing to Sage One just as the Christmas calendar starts filling up properly.

This is one for anyone who wants their seasonal music with a bit more sparkle and movement than the average carol concert. The show sits firmly in the Christmas-night-out part of The Glasshouse programme, with a large-stage setting that should suit the music nicely.

Swing Into Christmas at The Glasshouse

There’s something about swing and Christmas that has always worked. Big arrangements, familiar melodies and that old-school sense of occasion fit the season without needing much explanation, and Sage One gives the show a suitably grand home.

The concert arrives after a busy opening weekend at the venue and just before Christmas Massaoke and Dave McCabe both play on 3 December. So if you’re planning more than one festive trip across the Tyne, this is where the programme really starts to gather pace.

It’s also a good option for anyone looking for a Christmas show that feels celebratory without being aimed specifically at families. This is an evening-out show: get dressed up if you fancy it, settle into Sage One and let the band do the rest.

With The Glasshouse running festive events right through to New Year’s Day, there are plenty of choices this year, but Swing Into Christmas should appeal to anyone who likes the classics delivered with a little more punch.
