This Ain’t Texas Country Festival Heads to Cliffe Park in 2027

This Ain’t Texas Country Festival heads to Cliffe Park in Sunderland on Friday 21 May 2027, opening a three-day run of music events at the park.

Listed from 4pm until 10pm, the Friday event puts country music at the centre of the opening night and gives Sunderland another outdoor date to look ahead to next spring. It also begins a particularly busy weekend at Cliffe Park, with Americana Festival following on Saturday and Great Brit Live taking over on Sunday.

A country festival night at Cliffe Park

The appeal here is bigger than simply adding another date to the calendar. Three consecutive music events in the same Sunderland park create a genuine weekend programme, while This Ain’t Texas gives the Friday its own country-focused identity.

Country events have become an increasingly visible part of UK live music programming, from dedicated festivals to themed club nights and tribute productions. Putting that format into an outdoor Sunderland setting should give the night a different feel from the city’s indoor country shows.

The event was discovered through My Sunderland and is listed by SoundBite against its real location, Cliffe Park. That means it also forms part of SoundBite’s wider Sunderland listings rather than sitting in a separate council-events silo.
