Lost Lot are a Newcastle upon Tyne alt-country band bringing a distinctly North East perspective to music influenced by Americana, roots rock and contemporary folk. Previously known as Matt Dunbar & The Autonomous Collective, the group draw inspiration from artists including Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Wilco, The Milk Carton Kids and Bruce Springsteen. Those names give a useful starting point, but Lost Lot are at their best when the influence becomes background colour and the songs focus on their own stories.
The band’s sound is warm and unhurried, with guitars, close arrangements and a strong emphasis on narrative. Rather than reaching for country clichés, they lean into the reflective side of the genre. The result is music that feels equally suited to an intimate listening room and a fuller band stage, with enough rock weight to stop the songs becoming too delicate.
The Lost Lot EP and a growing catalogue
