The Hanging Stars Bring New Album Just A Day to The Forum Darlington

The Hanging Stars at The Forum Darlington arrives on Thursday 5 November 2026 as the London band bring their sixth album, Just A Day, to Borough Road with Liverpool collective Sunstack Jones in support. The new record pushes the group’s mix of country-rock, psychedelia and harmony-heavy guitar music forward without losing the classic songwriting that has shaped their previous releases.

Just A Day was recorded at Edwyn Collins’ Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands, with Teenage Fanclub’s Gerard Love helping guide the sessions. The Hanging Stars have returned to the studio several times, and the setting fits a band whose sound often feels deliberately spacious. Four-part harmonies, twelve-string guitars and chiming arrangements sit alongside songs about longing, new beginnings and the small details of everyday life.

The show takes place at The Forum Music Centre in Darlington on Thursday 5 November. Doors open at 7pm, with the music expected to start at around 7.45pm. Advance tickets are £10. The Forum lists the event as standing and 16+, with under-18s required to attend with an adult.

Sunstack Jones should make a natural fit for the bill rather than simply filling the support slot. The Liverpool collective work in a soul-psych and dream-pop space, with warm harmonies, slide guitar and a laid-back Laurel Canyon feel. The Verve guitarist Nick McCabe mastered their third album, adding another connection to the kind of layered guitar music that runs through the night.

The combination should make this one of the more understated dates in The Forum’s November programme. Neither band needs oversized production to make the material work. Instead, the draw is in vocal blend, guitar texture and songs that gradually open out as the set develops. In a room the size of The Forum, that detail should come through clearly.
