Fenwick Food Hall joins Mercury Prize Fringe with live music takeover
Fenwick Newcastle hosts a Food Hall live music takeover on 20 October as part of the 2026 Mercury Prize Fringe, with artists and a DJ to be announced.

The Fenwick Food Hall Mercury Prize Fringe takeover brings live artists and a DJ into Fenwick Newcastle on Tuesday 20 October 2026, adding food, music and a slightly different kind of venue to the week-long programme.
The event is built around an after-hours takeover of the Food Hall, with restaurants serving their usual à la carte menus alongside dishes created especially for Mercury week. At the same time, live performers and a DJ will soundtrack the space throughout the evening. The full music line-up and special menus are still to be announced.
Fenwick Food Hall Mercury Prize Fringe takeover
This one sits somewhere between a gig and a wider city-centre experience, but Generator lists it as live music and it belongs in the Fringe listings for that reason. Rather than asking audiences to head to a traditional venue, the idea is to fold music into one of Newcastle’s busiest city-centre spaces and create another stopping point between the week’s other shows.
The lack of a confirmed line-up means there is no value in guessing who will appear. Instead, the current official information confirms live artists and a DJ, with Fenwick expected to reveal more closer to the date. The same goes for timings: the individual Generator event page currently gives the date and Food Hall location but does not publish a start time, so SoundBite is leaving that open until it is officially confirmed.
The takeover forms part of the 2026 Mercury Prize Fringe, which runs across Newcastle from 15 to 22 October. Generator’s live programme is designed to put local venues, artists and creative spaces in front of the extra audiences arriving in the city for Mercury week.
