walt disco headline EMI North x Notion Live Events showcase

EMI North x Notion Live Events brings walt disco to The Grove in Newcastle on Tuesday 20 October 2026 as part of the Mercury Prize Fringe.

The Glasgow alt-rock band headline the night following the release of their self-titled album, while Generator says additional special guests from EMI North’s partner labels will also join the bill. Those extra names have not been announced yet, so the confirmed line-up remains walt disco with further guests to follow.

EMI North’s role in the event gives the showcase a wider Northern focus. The label and development network works across the North of the UK, and this night is designed to pull some of that emerging talent into Newcastle during Mercury week. Notion Live Events is handling the promotion, linking the showcase back into the city’s grassroots live scene.

walt disco make an interesting choice of headliner for that brief. Their sound moves between alt-rock, art-pop and theatrical indie, while the new record gives the band a fresh set of material for the Newcastle date. Meanwhile, the unannounced partner-label guests leave room for the bill to expand closer to the show.

The event forms part of Generator’s city-wide Mercury Prize Fringe programme, running from 15 to 22 October. Every Fringe gig is Pay As You Feel, with contributions going directly back to participating venues. However, advance booking is still required, and Generator links through to the official Gigantic ticket page.
