Northbound Sessions brings four emerging artists to Little Buildings

Born out of the connections made at Station East in Gateshead’s Railway Quarter, Northbound Sessions brings together four emerging artists from the North East music scene for a night celebrating the spirit and craft of grassroots original music.

This new emerging showcase is about discovering new voices and creating space for independent artists to share their songs.

Meet the artists

Oliver Hunt

Oliver Hunt is a Durham-born, Tyneside-based songwriter who blends Americana and indie folk into heartfelt, introspective stories, backed by contemporary lo-fi vocals, guitar, and banjo. Inspired by personal life stories, Oliver delivers an original melancholic sound of someone who finds beauty in the breakdown and hope in the heartbreak.

Callum McLean

Callum McLean is a north east musician, doing spoken word punk music. Many of his songs cover political subject matter, or hyper focus on general interactions which got on his nerves. Some influences include Sleaford Mods, Cowboy Hunters, John Cooper Clarke, Sabrina Carpenter, Napalm Death and Arab Strap

Anna Lou

Northern Irish singer-songwriter Anna Lou specialises in softly strummed melancholic tunes with raw lyrics about love, life and everything else. Anna’s original songs lean into an indie sound with an acoustic-shoegaze twang featuring her stripped back vocals.

Sam Bennett

Sam Bennett is a North East singer songwriter whose music draws from indie folk, Americana and alternative country. Combining vivid storytelling with emotionally raw vocals, his songs explore lived experience, relationships and the places that shape us. Influenced by artists such as Jason Isbell, Phoebe Bridgers and Zach Bryan, his music aims to find meaning in everyday life.
