Made in the North: Music in Conversation brings Charlie Floyd to The Lobby Vinyl Lounge at Zerox on Tuesday 20 October 2026 as part of Newcastle’s Mercury Prize Fringe programme. The free event runs from 6pm to 9.30pm and is hosted by Generator’s Young Ambassadors.
Rather than a conventional live set, the evening puts the focus on how artists and music professionals build careers from the North East. Charlie Floyd joins platinum-selling producer Thom Lewis, also known as Bramwell Bronte, BBC Introducing’s Shakk Hashemi and creative strategist Meg Savage for an open conversation about breaking into the industry, developing a career and working from the region.
That makes the event a useful addition to the wider Mercury Prize Fringe programme. The week is built around shows, talks, workshops and creative events across Newcastle, giving local artists and audiences a chance to take part in activity surrounding the Mercury Prize’s return to the city. Made in the North is aimed particularly at musicians and creatives who want practical insight rather than a formal panel-room experience.
The Lobby Vinyl Lounge setting should help keep things informal.
