Newcastle-based indie riser Heidi Curtis releases debut EP ‘Hollow Heart’, out today (May 29th) via AWAL.
Primed to support Florence + The Machine on her Irish dates next month, Curtis’ phenomenal rise continues following her UK tour run with Holly Humberstone earlier this spring. Having also earned a spot in the NME 100 of 2026, and previously been announced to support Lewis Capaldi, Self Esteem and Wunderhorse in the summer months, the enigmatic songwriter kicked off her festival run with a debut appearance at The Great Escape inBrightonearlier this month, as well as a slot at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley and Florence & The Machine, Curtis’ ‘Hollow Heart’ EP caps off a hugely impressive six month period which has seen debut single ‘Undone’, its follow-up ‘Siren’, third reveal ‘What Am I Missing?’ and latest effort ‘Behind The Door’ draw considerable praise throughout the press landscape, with acclaim arriving from the likes of NME Magazine, DIY Magazine, Rolling Stone UK, Dork Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, Guitar and Wonderland.
Showcasing her powerhouse vocals and authentic songwriting throughout ‘Hollow Heart’, the North East native’s classic rock, indie and folk sensibilities see her weave a sonic tapestry that has clearly resonated across the radio airwaves. Heidi was recently made BBC Introducing on Radio 1’s ‘Need To Know’ Artist, in addition to considerable early backing on BBC 6 Music (Craig Charles, Emily Pilbeam).
Detailing her EP, Curtis revealed: “‘Hollow Heart’ is an invitation into my world, centred around my first experience of loss and grief. It’s a personal account of how sadness shapes us and can be transformed into beauty. Delving into dreams, symbols, spiritual realms and transformation this record is only the beginning.”
Discussing its accompanying focus track and title-track ‘Hollow Heart’, she added: “‘Hollow Heart’ is an outlet for grief. I want to make sadness a dance, something you can physically move out of you via music. This song came to me during the grieving process and provided a place for me to unload my confusion and my heartache. I am so proud of this song, this EP and every song that came after it.
Heidi Curtis’ ‘Hollow Heart’ (EP) is out now via AWAL and available on all digital platforms.
