The Paul Austin Band and their Teesside connection
The Paul Austin Band are a hard-rock outfit fronted by singer-songwriter Paul Austin, blending classic British rock, blues and Americana-tinged storytelling into a sound built for live rooms. Their music is direct, melodic and unashamedly guitar-led, with big choruses, gritty vocals and a strong sense of momentum running through the band’s recent material.
The project has grown through steady touring and a clear commitment to writing songs that feel rooted in real experience. Rather than leaning into nostalgia for its own sake, The Paul Austin Band use the language of classic rock to frame modern themes, from frustration and resilience to social commentary and personal reflection. That balance gives the songs a familiar shape without making them feel stuck in the past.
Austintacious and recent releases
The band’s debut album Austintacious received its full digital release in January 2026 through Nil By Mouth Records. Tracks including Stop the Rain and Land of Plenty show the range within the project, moving from emotionally driven rock into more socially charged writing while keeping strong hooks at the centre. Their current live release, Raising Hell: Live at the Whisky A Go Go, captures the heavier side of the band and reflects the reputation they have built as a high-energy live act.
Another key release is Ballad of a Teesside Boy, a title that makes the North East connection explicit. It fits naturally with the band’s wider identity, bringing a regional thread into a catalogue that increasingly reaches audiences far beyond the area.
Live shows in the North East and beyond
The Paul Austin Band have toured widely across the UK and have also performed in the United States, including a show at the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles. Closer to home, their 2026 schedule has included Newcastle appearances at Trillians, helping keep the band connected to the North East live circuit while they continue to push into new markets.
That mix of local roots and wider ambition is a big part of what makes the project work. The Paul Austin Band are not trying to hide their classic-rock influences, but the songs feel strongest when those influences are tied to current writing and a real sense of place. For SoundBite North East, they sit comfortably within the region’s rock landscape while also showing how far a locally connected act can take a strong live show and a consistent run of releases.
