Ten Eighty Trees Unveil Fifth Release Of 2026 with New Single “The Phantom Buzz”
Newcastle rock trio Ten Eighty Trees announce new single The Phantom Buzz, out 6 November, alongside upcoming gigs in Newcastle and Sunderland.
2026 has been somewhat of a prolific year for turquoise-clad ‘dungareecore’ alternative rock power trio Ten Eighty Trees. Perhaps you could say that the three-piece are undergoing somewhat of a creative purple patch, with regular releases since the band’s sold-out self-curated festival Treevolution this summer.
The Newcastle-based outfit are currently preparing to unveil their fifth consecutive release of 2026 via their new single “The Phantom Buzz”. The latter follows on from the release of their “Bittersweet Coming of Age” EP in July, and recent single “Always On” in September.
On Friday 6th November, Ten Eighty Trees will release “The Phantom Buzz”. Speaking about the track, frontman Nathan Newton said: “I wanted ‘The Phantom Buzz’ to capture that unsettling feeling of waiting for something you desperately want to happen. The more you check, the more convinced you become that you’ve felt your phone buzz, even when it hasn’t. It’s about how easily hope can turn into obsession, and how our need to feel that someone cares can make us create things that aren’t really there.”
Ten Eighty Trees have pushed themselves musically with their latest release, with funky guitar riffs interspersed between pummeling rhythms. The band take influence from a variety of artists including Biffy Clyro, Basement, Don Broco, Foo Fighters and Deftones.
In September, the band released the follow up to their Bittersweet Coming of Age EP via their latest single “Always On”.

Ten Eighty Trees have been regular features on the BBC Introducing Mixtape that airs on BBC 6 Music, as well as being handpicked to perform at major UK festivals, such as Kendal Calling in 2025.
Within the last 12 months Ten Eighty Trees have also sold-out venues across the North of England, most notably The Cluny in Newcastle and The Hallamshire Hotel in Sheffield and performed at grassroots music festivals such as A Stones Throw, Veritas and Tramlines Fringe.
Ten Eighty Trees will continue to perform across the country in support of their latest releases with shows in Newcastle, Derby and Sunderland on the agenda for the remainder of this year.
Ten Eighty Trees Live:
7th November – Veritas Festival, Anarchy Brewery, Newcastle
13th November – The Victoria Inn, Derby
13th December – Pop Recs, Sunderland – Supporting Your Code Name Is Milo
Ten Eighty Trees have dug deep on their latest single. They explain that “The Phantom Buzz” is a symbol for loneliness, anxiety and the way modern communication can amplify our need for reassurance. It represents the imagined signs of connection we create when we desperately want to believe that someone is thinking about us.
The Phantom Buzz, the new single from Ten Eighty Trees will be available on all digital streaming platforms on Friday 6th November
