Tyne & Queer announces Cluny 2 Mercury Fringe show
Tyne & Queer brings BONG II, THRAA and GREET to Cluny 2 for a heavy and atmospheric Mercury Prize Fringe showcase on Tuesday 20 October.

The Tyne & Queer Mercury Prize Fringe showcase will bring BONG II, THRAA and GREET to Cluny 2 in Newcastle on Tuesday 20 October 2026.
Tyne & Queer has put together a special double-headliner bill for the city-wide Fringe programme, with BONG II and THRAA sharing top billing and GREET opening the night. Generator describes the event as a meeting of expansive, heavy and atmospheric sounds, which feels like a neat summary of a line-up built for listeners who enjoy music with both weight and space.

The double-headliner format gives BONG II and THRAA equal room at the centre of the show, while GREET completes a compact three-act programme. Rather than stretching the evening across a long list of short appearances, this one is shaped like a focused gig: three distinctive acts connected by an interest in atmosphere, intensity and sounds that can fill a room.
Cluny 2 should be a strong setting for it. The room gives the music enough scale to land properly while keeping the audience close to the stage. For anyone planning a route through Mercury week, this is one of the programme’s more concentrated live propositions: a clearly defined bill, a grassroots Newcastle venue and a promoter-led identity behind the booking.
The event is part of Mercury Prize Fringe, which runs across Newcastle from 15 to 22 October with more than 30 events. Generator says every Fringe gig is Pay As You Feel, with contributions going directly to the venues involved. Booking is still required even where no fixed ticket price applies.
