An Dannsa Dub Bring Gaelic-Dub Fusion to Cluny 2
An Dannsa Dub bring their collision of Gaelic song, Scottish instrumentation and deep digital dub to Cluny 2.

The An Dannsa Dub Newcastle gig brings Gaelic song, traditional Scottish instruments and deep digital dub to Cluny 2 on Saturday 14 November 2026. Led by Tom Spirals and Euan McLaughlin, the group have developed a sound where old musical forms meet bass-heavy club rhythms without either side becoming decorative.
Tradition meets sound-system culture at the An Dannsa Dub Newcastle gig
An Dannsa Dub blend Gaelic song and traditional Scottish instrumentation with digital dub rhythms and deep basslines. That combination makes the project equally suited to folk gatherings and late-night festival crowds, with live musicianship providing the detail while the low-end production supplies its physical force.
The band formed in 2020 and quickly established a strong live reputation. They have twice been nominated for Live Act of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards, while the Scottish Alternative Music Awards also recognised them in 2023. Those nominations point towards the performance itself as an important part of the group’s identity.
Their festival route has already stretched well beyond Scotland. An Dannsa Dub have appeared at Glastonbury and Celtic Connections, then taken their hybrid sound to Dubcamp in France and Goa Sunsplash in India. As a result, the Cluny 2 date brings an internationally tested show into one of Newcastle’s most intimate rooms.
The venue should make the band’s contrasts especially clear. Traditional voices and instruments can remain close and expressive, while the dub framework has enough weight to turn the floor into a dance space. It is an unusual meeting point between heritage, electronic production and communal movement rather than a conventional folk performance with added beats.
