lots of hands is a Newcastle upon Tyne project centred on Billy Woodhouse and Elliot Dryden. The pair first connected through a Newcastle school music programme when they were 16, later building a catalogue that moves between lo-fi indie, electronics, intimate songwriting and more expansive full-band arrangements.
Several self-released records came before the Fire Talk album into a pretty room in January 2025, which brought together reworked demos, session material and instrumental electronics around themes of grief, growing up and letting go. A deluxe edition of mistake followed in 2025, while grapevine arrived in April 2026.
The project has since expanded well beyond its North East beginnings with dates across the UK and Europe, but Newcastle remains central to its identity. That contrast between small-scale, personal writing and a widening live footprint is a big part of what makes lots of hands distinctive.
