| Manchester based, North East natives Cutscene release debut EP ‘A Piece Of Life’, out today (July 10th) via Heist or Hit (Westside Cowboy, Her’s, ladylike). Newly partnered with the indie heavyweights Heist or Hit, the band’s debut EP has already spawned lead singles ‘Concrete Line’, with its brutalist guitars and angelic, emotive vocals of frontman Seb Mason, pulsating second effort ‘Shrine (Give Me A Chance)’ and this week’s punchy focus track ‘Imperium’. Ditching the lumbering masculinity of post-punk alienation and courting the spectral stillness of a city under siege, ‘A Piece Of Life’ is both raw and overwrought, but for every moment of art-punk immediacy, there’s an equivalent moment of quivering purity. Having burst onto the scene earlier this year, Cutscene have already made quite the impression, with plaudits arriving from key indie press champions including NME, DIY, Rolling Stone UK, The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland, Rough Trade and Under The Radar. Coupled with nods of approval across the BBC 6 Music airwaves (Huw Stephens, Emily Pilbeam), the four-piece are lining themselves up for a busy autumn period with several tastemaker festival appearances following their EP’s arrival. Detailing their EP, the group stated: “The EP is live sounding and energetic, navigating through powerful vocals and dream-like guitar work.
