The anniversary format gives the Newcastle date a very specific centre. Rather than treating the debut album as a handful of songs inside a wider hits set, Heaven 17 are returning to Penthouse and Pavement as a complete body of work in the year of its 45th anniversary.

The Boiler Shop show puts Penthouse and Pavement at the centre of the night as Heaven 17 mark 45 years since their debut album. The record helped establish the band’s mix of electronic production, sharp pop writing and political commentary, and it remains one of the clearest statements of their early sound.

The album reached number 14 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold the following year. More importantly, it arrived at a point when British synth music was still rapidly changing, with acts moving electronic ideas out of experimental spaces and into the mainstream without losing their edge.
