Magnum bring The Next Chapter tour to Boiler Shop

Magnum at Boiler Shop Newcastle brings the British rock band to South Street on Thursday 1 October 2026 for a sold-out date on The Next Chapter tour, with Grand Slam joining as special guests. Doors are advertised for 7pm.

Magnum at Boiler Shop Newcastle begins a new chapter

This tour carries more meaning than another run through a long catalogue. Magnum are moving forward after the death of founder, guitarist and songwriter Tony Clarkin, whose writing shaped the band across more than five decades.

The Next Chapter tour is designed to honour Tony Clarkin’s legacy while allowing Magnum to continue after more than 50 years of music. That makes the Newcastle show part tribute, part continuation, with the band acknowledging the person at the centre of their history without treating the story as finished.

Before this tour, Magnum marked Clarkin’s work through the special The Passage in Time performances, built as a two-hour celebration of some of his best-known compositions. The Boiler Shop date follows that period of reflection and shifts the emphasis towards what the band can become next.

Grand Slam add another strand of British rock history to the bill. Their presence gives the evening more weight than a short support slot from an unrelated newcomer, and it should suit an audience arriving for a band whose own catalogue stretches from melodic hard rock into more progressive and theatrical territory.

Boiler Shop is also an interesting room for the show. Magnum have spent much of their career in theatres and larger rock venues, so a former industrial space with a standing-floor feel should make the songs land differently from a more formal seated setting.
