Son Of Nirvana Newcastle: event details

The event itself is a concise billing, but the wider October programme gives it much more context. Trillians starts the month with The Glamz and VOLBEATen, then moves through Blink 18who, Metal Militia and this Son Of Nirvana date before Ozzbest arrives the following Saturday. The month closes with a Halloween show featuring Witches Sabbath. For regulars, that makes 17 October part of a clear run of weekends built around familiar rock catalogues and heavier guitar music.

That positioning is what makes this date more interesting than a bare artist-and-venue listing. Trillians is not treating October as a handful of disconnected bookings. Instead, the calendar builds a sequence of rock nights across Fridays and Saturdays, giving people several chances to pick out a particular style or return for more than one show.

Son Of Nirvana sits right in the middle of that run. The venue’s close stage and standing-room feel should suit a night where the appeal is built around immediacy rather than a large production. At Trillians, there is very little distance between band and audience, which is one reason these tribute and rock-focused nights can feel different from seeing similar material in a theatre or larger concert hall.

Nic Sands is more than a one-night support

Nic Sands is also worth noting because 17 October is part of a much wider run for him at Trillians. The venue’s October calendar places him on 15, 16, 17 and 18 October, then again on 23, 24 and 25 October. That makes this appearance one stop in a concentrated sequence rather than an isolated support slot.

For anyone who regularly follows smaller Newcastle gigs, that recurring presence is useful context. It means Sands is woven through several different bills across the month, while the Son Of Nirvana night gives him a Saturday slot at the point when Trillians’ October programme is at its busiest.
